Description

The main difference between white paper and blue paper steel is the ability of the white to take a very fine edge. Except for the two large roughing gouges, our violin tools are now the made of the finest white paper steel, hand-forged and hardened to Rc64-65 by Master Blacksmith Seigen. Each tool is individually forged and goes through numerous operations before being fitted with the finest quality Japanese Red Oak handle.

Many violin carvers prefer to work with a palm handled tool like this Incannel Gouge that is useful for cutting joints and scribing cuts of all kinds. Gouge is razor-sharp, with approximately a #5 sweep. Blade length is 2-1/4″, with an overall length of 8″.

  • Hand-forged from the finest white paper steel
