Large Clamping Recess

3-Hole Drill Guide with Hardened-Steel Core
The 3-Hole Drill Guide lets you drill pocket holes in a wide variety of material widths and thicknesses—from 1/2″ to 11/2″, in 1/8″ increments. Every Kreg Drill Guide features a hardened-steel core, which carries a lifetime guarantee. The core shrouds the bit and supports the workpiece through 100% of the drill-stroke, resulting in minimal bit deflection, reduced tear-out, and a clean, pluggable pocket hole.
Material Support Stop
The Material Support Stop can be set at any distance from the jig to help you repeat the same pocket holes over and over again. The stop can also be swung out of the way to serve as a height support for larger panels.

I have been totally blown away by the Kreg pocket hole system. So simple to use. So quick to implement. So fast for the job on hand. A real winner. The K4 kit includes a useful clamp as well. I’m not convinced about the need for the dust collector (vacuum attachment) but nevertheless its there if you want it. A great and innovative product.

It took me a while to get any pocket hole jigs/tools since I don’t like the appearance of pocket holes.
That said, they are extremely useful in some cases – like mounting table tops or seats onto their bases or for projects/jigs where speed of build is more important than appearance.
I ended up with a holiday project where I could use pocket hole screws that were completely hidden in the final assembly and would really simplify the glue up process by reducing the number of clamps I would require. I got the K4 Master System since the K5 was quite a lot more expensive at the time when considering all the extras supplied with the K4 Master System.
Let’s start with the positive aspects:
(1) The build quality of all the components is exceptional.
(2) The dust/chip collection works really well – with my shop vac + home made cyclone setup almost no chips are ejected when removing the bit from the jig
(3) Very simple to setup with the markings provide on the jig – no additional charts required to set the collar. The markings are also stamped into the plastic so even if the surface is scuffed over time you wouldn’t have problems with setup.
(4) The kit is very well equipped as shown in the images in the listing. The only big item not included is the 90 degree clamp, but it is possible to simply use a scrap of wood to clamp the board using the face clamp (or any other clamp).
There are also a few downsides (some of which has been addressed by Kreg in the K5):
(1) With large boards leaning over to release the material is a bit annoying. The K5 has a front handle for the material clamp.
(2) The kit does not fit in the supplied case. The clamp is provided in a separate box. Not a huge problem – just a tad strange.

I absolutely love my Kreg Jig! So easy use! Makes woodworking a dream! My only regret is that I purchased mine before the metric ones were available, so now I have the Imperial measurements (inches), which means I have to keep on converting. Needless to say, you can print a table off the internet, and you eventually get used to the conversions. But, I love it! Highly recommended!

I had a J3 jig which I enjoyed using and recently purchased a metric K4 Master kit which makes life so very much easier. This is a brilliant tool and I strongly recommend it.

Best jig ever, we use this jig on every project, speeds up turnaround time on orders tenfold, we used the trent product but that jig don’t come close to a kreg
