The Kreg Jig® K5 incorporates the best features of every Kreg Jig® that came before with upgrades you’ve never seen. That starts with an all-new clamping mechanism that you can adjust without tools or adjusting nuts to match your workpiece thickness. Just slide the clamp into place, “click” the large front-mounted clamp handle, and your jig is set to hold your workpiece tight every time. Plus, you’ll find large support wings to hold your workpiece steady—and they have storage compartments inside. Fast, Simple, Setup
When you’re ready to create Kreg Joints, the K5 makes it simple. Just select your screw based on thickness of your wood, set the Stop Collar using the Drill Bit Setup Block, pull the spring loaded pin to adjust the Drill Guide Block, and then set the workpiece clamp—Just slide the clamp block, pull the handle up until it clicks twice, and then push it back down. Just that easy, you’re ready to go.
Easy Thickness Adjustment
The Kreg Jig® K5 offers our simplest workpiece clamping system ever. The ratcheting clamp simply slides into place against your workpiece. Then, you lift the handle until you hear and feel two “clicks,” and that’s it. Now your clamp is set until you change to a different thickness. Fast. Sure. Simple.
Support Plus Onboard Storage
Two large support wings can be attached quickly and easily to the sides of the base. This way, long workpieces get solid footing and won’t tip. Plus, there’s a large storage compartment under the lid in each wing where you can keep your Kreg Bits, screws, and accessories close at hand but out of the way.
Swiveling Dust Collection Port
The Kreg Jig® K5 comes with a detachable dust port that swivels from side to side so that you can position it exactly where you want it, and then attach it to a standard 1-1/4″ vacuum hose. This keeps your work area free of chips and debris, makes drilling easier, and prolongs drill bit life by reducing heat.

Question: Can I use any screw?
Answer:
I wouldn’t use any other screw than a Kreg. The cost difference is relatively small, and their screws are far superior.
- Self-tapping tip reduces chances for splitting.
- Deep square drive never strips out.
- Very hard steel; i’ve never had one break off in the hole (the frustration from having this happen even once with another screw will have you thinking as I do almost immediately).
- They have a screw for everything.
- Threads only go up 1/2 the screw, this prevents the screw from pushing the two workpieces apart.
(Maybe the most important) Kreg screws have a flat bottom head which creates a solid joint and prevents splitting. This is a major difference Kreg has over many others. - They are designed to be the best option for pocket joints. You may be able to go to a hardware store and buy similar screws at a better price, but be sure they have self-tapping threads.
Kreg Screws are available in two main thread types:
Coarse thread – work best in soft woods
Fine thread – works best in hard woods

As for the Kreg Jig I have only seen positive reviewsI ordered the Kreg K5 jig and I was blown away by your prompt delivery. I had it in my hands in mere days. The product was well packaged and recieved in good condition. The K5 Jig is well made and sturdy enough for almost any DIY purposes. I cannot wait to start my DIY projects using this pocket-hole Jig. thanks for the great service tools4wood.
Great product and service! The jig was delivered within a week and the jig performs really well and is easy to use for great results.
The process of purchasing the product through Tools4wood was excellent and the tool itself is great. The downside is that the drill bits are very sensitive and the small guide hole bit at the top of the bit will break off easily… even on softer hardwood like pine. Mine broke in the first week on a small hobby project. A retail store will charge upward of R500 and even at a more reasonable price from Tools4woord… you still have to pay for shipping which makes it equally expensive. At this price point, you would expect the bit to last longer.

Hi Sam, here is my opinion on these 2 units.
The K5 has replaced the K4. There are some differences between the K4 and K5 jig, but overall they perform the same function and both work very well. Both jigs handles stock thickness 12mm – 38mm.
Some Differences:
The K4MS is supplied with a 3” Reach Face Clamp & Portable Drill Guide Base (KPDGB), whereas the K5 is not supplied with these accessories. This gives the K4MS Master System more value for money. These accessories can however be purchased separately, see links below.

In my opinion, I would go for the K4MS Mater System as it is supplied with the portable base which basically offers a mobile Kreg Jig unit that would assist you in those outdoor projects.

Both the K4 and K5 jigs are equally suitable for workshop as well as outdoor projects. The differences between the two items are the accessories included in the kits as well as the clamping mechanisms. The K5 uses a front-facing clamp whereas the K4 uses a back-facing clamp.
