Use the Splitting Maul for splitting heavy, grumpy chunks. The shape of the head ? the wedge-shaped wide head with a back especially designed to split ? makes the axe very efficient. The weight and the long handle make it possible to use both hands and apply greater force. Because it is easier to split wood when it is fresh, wood should be cut and split as soon as possible after chopping. The Splitting Maul has a hardened neck with beveled edges that allows you to drive a splitting wedge into the wood. The Splitting Maul is the only product made to bear this kind of work.

CAUTION: Remember there is always a risk to hit steel against steel ? there can be steel splinters that damage an eye, for example! Use protective glasses and suitable workwear! Make sure the edges on both wedge and maul are kept beveled!

The maul blade is hand-forged Swedish carbon specially alloyed steel with an HRC57 edge hardness, and the handle is American hickory. Maul comes with a vegetable tanned, locally produced, leather sheath and a 20-year warranty.Approximately 7 lbs., 1 oz. total weight; 32″ overall length with a 2-1/2″ face. Made in Sweden.
