I had a Stanley #4 Jack plane handed down to me by my uncle when I started DIY woodworking and it definitely needed a lot of elbow grease. I’m now better with it but buying this Bosch planer made life much easier. I’m still learning to use it well but it smooths out rough wood without much of an issue. The supplied blades are reversible and should take a while before they need to be reversed. While it can take off 1.5mm of material max, I normally use it on the 0 setting for finer planing. The dust extraction port can be hooked to a vacuum cleaner and I’d advise anyone planning on buying this to do so as this thing produces shavings at an “industrial scale” 😉
