Rustins Original Danish Oil is a high-quality blend of oils, resins, and driers that delivers an attractive, durable satin finish to wooden surfaces. This product brings out the natural beauty of wood, giving it a soft, low lustre finish that highlights the wood’s open grain. Unlike Teak Oil, which results in a glossy finish, Rustins Danish Oil provides a more natural, subdued sheen. Easy to apply with a wipe-on method, it is suitable for a wide variety of woodwork, both interior and exterior. While primarily intended for indoor use, it can also serve as a primer-sealer for exterior applications. Periodic reapplication is required for maintenance. Compliant with the Articles in Contact with Food Regulations and the Toys (Safety) Regulations 1995 (BS EN71 Part 3), it is safe for use on food contact surfaces and toys.

Specifications:

Type: Blend of oils, resins, and driers

Preparation: Wood should be clean, smooth, dry, and free of contaminants. Clean oily timbers like Teak and Iroko with Rustins Surface Cleaner.
Application: Apply liberally with a clean rag or brush, then wipe off excess after a few minutes. Apply 3 coats to bare wood for best results.
Drying Time: 4-6 hours depending on temperature and humidity
Re-coating Time: Recoat once the previous coat is dry
Coverage: Approximately 14 sq.m per litre per coat, depending on wood absorbency
Application Temp.: Ideally 15-25°C, do not apply below 5°C
Maintenance: Periodic re-oiling required. Clean surfaces with White Spirit before re-oiling
Compatibility: Compatible with Rustins Wood Dye and Polyurethane Varnish
Settlement: Stir well before use to prevent gloss formation
Shelf-life/Storage: Store in tightly closed container in cool, dry conditions for years. Once opened, transfer to a smaller container to minimize air exposure
Hazards: Flammable. Avoid contact with eyes and skin, use in well-ventilated areas. Follow safety instructions and dispose of rags properly
Clean-Up: Clean brushes with White Spirit or Rustins Brush Cleaner when wet. For dried-on spills, use Rustins Strypit Paint and Varnish Remover
