Rustins Original Danish Oil is a specially formulated blend of oils, resins, and driers that produces an attractive, durable satin finish on wooden surfaces. Ideal for use on a variety of woods, this oil brings out the natural beauty of the grain while providing a low lustre finish. Unlike Teak Oil, which provides a gloss finish, Rustins Danish Oil is designed to offer a more subtle, natural sheen. The easy wipe-on application makes it suitable for both small and large projects, and it can be used on both interior and exterior woodwork. For exterior applications, it acts as a primer-sealer and requires regular maintenance for continued performance. Safe for use on food contact surfaces and toys, it complies with the Articles in Contact with Food Regulations and the Toys (Safety) Regulations 1995 (BS EN71 Part 3).

Specifications:

Preparation: Ensure wood is clean, smooth, dry, and free of contaminants. Clean oily timbers like Teak and Iroko with Rustins Surface Cleaner.
Application: Apply generously with a clean rag or brush, then wipe off any excess after a few minutes. Apply 3 coats to bare wood.
Drying Time: 4-6 hours depending on temperature and humidity
Re-coating Time: Recoat once the previous coat is dry
Coverage: Approximately 14 sq.m per litre per coat, depending on wood absorbency
Application Temp.: Ideally 15-25°C, do not apply below 5°C
Maintenance: Requires periodic re-oiling. Clean surfaces before re-oiling using White Spirit
Compatibility: Compatible with Rustins Wood Dye and Polyurethane Varnish
Settlement: Stir well before use to prevent gloss formation
Shelf-life/Storage: Store in a tightly closed container in cool, dry conditions. Once opened, transfer to a smaller container to minimize air exposure
Hazards: Flammable. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Use in a well-ventilated area and keep away from sources of ignition. Dispose of rags properly to avoid fire risk
Clean-Up: Clean brushes with White Spirit or Rustins Brush Cleaner when wet. For dried spills, use Rustins Strypit Paint and Varnish Remover
