Rustins Original Danish Oil is a blend of oils, resins, and driers that create an attractive and durable finish on wooden surfaces. It is suitable for a wide range of wood types, bringing out their natural open-grained texture while providing a soft, low lustre satin finish. Unlike Teak Oil, which gives a glossy finish, this oil offers a more understated sheen. The oil is easy to apply with a wipe-on method, making it ideal for use on wooden furniture, doors, window frames, and more. Rustins Danish Oil conforms to both the Articles in Contact with Food Regulations and the Toys (Safety) Regulations 1995 (BS EN71 Part 3), ensuring its suitability for various applications. It is primarily designed for interior use but may also be used as a primer-sealer for exterior wood, where it will require periodic maintenance.

Specifications:

Preparation: Ensure the wood is clean, smooth, dry, and free of contaminants. Use Rustins Surface Cleaner for oily timbers like Teak and Iroko.
Application: Apply with a clean rag or brush, wipe off excess after a few minutes. For best results, apply 3 coats to bare wood.
Drying Time: 4-6 hours depending on temperature and humidity
Re-coating Time: Recoat once the previous layer is dry
Coverage: Approximately 14 sq.m per litre per coat depending on wood absorbency
Application Temp.: Ideally 15-25°C, avoid applying below 5°C
Maintenance: Periodic re-oiling required. Clean surfaces before re-oiling with White Spirit
Compatibility: Compatible with Rustins Wood Dye and Polyurethane Varnish
Settlement: Stir well before use to prevent gloss formation
Shelf-life/Storage: Can be stored for years in a tightly closed container in cool, dry conditions
Hazards: Flammable, avoid contact with eyes and skin, use in well-ventilated areas. Follow safety guidelines and dispose of used rags properly
Clean-Up: Clean brushes with White Spirit or Rustins Brush Cleaner when wet. Dried spills can be removed with Rustins Strypit Paint and Varnish Remover
