Application:
These flap wheels
are used in the metal fabrication and welding industry for stock removal,
blending, deburring, cleaning, finishing and polishing.
Designed to deliver a consistant finish with a uniform rate of cut. Flap wheels
wear away, continually exposing new Aluminium Oxide abrasives. These abrasives
are a good choice for hard-to-grind materials such as aluminium, bronze, brass,
stainless steel, carbon steel and titanium.
Flap wheels can be used for achieving a satin finish on steel, aluminium, brass
and hard plastics.
Wear eye, face, body and respiratory protection.

What is grit?
When talking about sandpaper ‘grit’ is a reference to the number
of abrasive particles per inch of sandpaper. The lower the grit the rougher the
sandpaper and conversely, the higher the grit number the smoother the sandpaper.
This make sense if you imagine how small the particles on an 1000-grit sandpaper
would need to be to fit into a 1′ square (25,4mm square). Sandpaper is referred
to by the size of its grit (Example 120-grit sandpaper or P120
sandpaper).
safety
There are two distinct areas on a flap/buffing wheel:
THE UNSAFE AREA which is rotating to wards the workpiece.
THE SAFE AREA which is rotating away from the workpiece.
The division of these two marked areas is marked with the dotted line on the
above drawings. The workpiece must only be applied to the area of the buff that
is rotating AWAY from the workpiece.
You should ensure that you are completely aware which area is which, otherwise
you could have a serious accident. Objects thrown away from a buffing wheel can
be traveling at very high speeds, which can result in some very unpleasant and potentially deadly accident!
When using a flap wheel to clean parts having sharp corners, edges or hooks, they
should be offered to the wheel with the edge flowing away from the wheel, so the
part does not catch. Operators should ALWAYS wear
SAFETY GOGGLES, APRON, GLOVES and a
DUST MASK.
