Our Emergency Hatchet is designed for use in emergency situations such as the aftermath of earthquakes, floods, etc. Where ever a strong cutting tool is required. It is also suited for splitting wood for camp fires. Mr. Tsuguo Abe is the last of a long line of blacksmiths specializing in hatchets and axes since before the 1830’s. He hand forges each axe with a combination of hard high carbon white steel and low carbon soft steels. He is noted for his forging technique which creates a long lasting edge that is easy to resharpen. Blade width is 4¼ ˝; handle length is 12˝. And overall weight is 1½ lbs. The chisel shaped poll is 1˝ wide. A blade cover is included.
