Description

The Crown Smoothing Plane is so named because of its coffin-shaped body, which is wider in the middle of the body tapering to thinner ends for easier holding and control. It is made from seasoned hard and figured maple, with a long iron, for years of service. Body measures approximately 81/4″ long x 21/2″ wide and weighs 1 lb., 8 oz. The 2″-wide blade is A2 steel hardened to Rc60-62, ground to a 221/2? bevel, and set in the plane at a 45? angle with the bevel down. Each blade is hand fitted to each plane.
