Kakuri Smoothing Planes are designed to give the same fine cutting features of Japanese style planes, while at the same time, reducing the time and effort required to ready them for use. The blades are heavy high carbon steel tempered to Rockwell c60- c63 and sharpened to a razor edge. The easily adjustable chip breaker is held firmly in place with a thumbscrew. The blades can be easily resharpened or inexpensively replaced. The body is from the heartwood of Japanese White Oak. Our 1?” Mini Smoothing Plane’s body is 1-3/4″ x 6″. The 1/8″ thick blade has a maximum cutting width of 1″.
