Rustins Pure Tung Oil is a non-toxic, solvent-free oil designed for use on interior timber. It penetrates deeply into all types of wood, enhancing the natural colour without leaving a film. The oil is highly resistant to water, alcohol, and foodstuffs, making it especially suitable for use on kitchen worktops, chopping boards, and other wooden surfaces that come into contact with food. This product creates a durable, natural matt finish that is both aesthetically pleasing and practical. Rustins Tung Oil is safe for food contact, adhering to the Plastic Materials and Articles in Contact with Food (England) regulations 2008. Its superior properties ensure a long-lasting finish, and it is ideal for wooden furniture, tables, chairs, and salad bowls.

Specifications:

Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, bare, and smooth. Remove all traces of wax. Conduct a test on a small area to assess colour and compatibility
Application: Apply with a clean soft cloth or brush. For the first coat, dilute with 40% white spirit. Allow 20 minutes for oil penetration, then wipe off excess oil. Subsequent coats should not be diluted
Coats: Two coats are recommended for optimal protection
Drying Time: More than 24 hours under good conditions
Re-coating Time: A minimum of 24 hours under good conditions
Application Temperature: Ideal between 15-25°C (59-77°F); avoid using below 10°C (50°F) or in high humidity conditions
Coverage: 13 m² per litre per coat
Maintenance: Re-apply annually to maintain the finish. Clean and remove wax before re-application
Compatibility: Can be used over Rustins Wood Dye, Grainfiller, and Woodfiller
Shelf-life/Storage: Long shelf life if stored in a cool, dry place in a tightly closed container

Clean-Up: Use White Spirit or Rustins Brush Cleaner while still wet. For dried-on oil, clean equipment with Rustins Brush Restorer
