Ryder – An Affordable Hand Tool Woodworking Brand
With import charges and stock concerns being a global and current concern, we are constantly looking at finding locally sourced brands for medium to high-quality woodworking hand tools. Ryder is just the right brand for this type of woodworker.
In our previous series, Woodworking Basic Tool Kit For Beginners, we discussed the various standard hand tools one requires for good woodworking. Today, we will look at this new range of hand tools from Ryder.
Ryder Adjustable Frame Saw
The adjustable frame saw or jeweler’s saw is a small and fretsaw-styled saw that has fine blades. Capable of cutting wood and plastic they are mainly used on metal. The frame adjusts to extend the life of broken blades. The blade is clamped into the saw frame with the teeth facing towards the handle so that the saw cuts when it is pulled, not like a conventional saw that cuts when it is pushed. It’s used by jewelers, and also has uses in model making and any metalworking that requires fine detail and control.

The 27mm full-width blade is micro-adjustable for precise control of the depth of cut. The blade is a fraction wider than the body making it easier to work into a corner. Ryder Hobby Brass Scraper Plane
These planes are very useful for hobbyists for doing small precise jobs where a bigger plane would be too large. Manufactured from selected brass having a hardwood surface that is accurately ground. Blades are hardened and tempered. They are great for adjusting the soles of small planes, as well as for touch up on full-size projects.
Ryder Adjustable Double Square 4″/100MM
The double square is one of the must-have woodworking and carpentry tools. Just like the speed square, try square, framing square, T square, and combination square, the double square works hand-in-glove to make your jobs such as squareness checking, marking, and scribing become easier. Professionals should have them all because when it comes down to it, each of them plays a unique role that makes them quite irreplaceable. The body of a double square consists of a head (handle) and a blade. The head can slide along the blade. Therefore, two things set this tool apart from other woodworking and machinist tools: firstly, they are adjustable, and secondly, they can be applied to check the squareness of corners from both ends. Speed square and try square is not adjustable.
