I used to own the older version of the Makita 18V Impact Driver Drill, and recently was force to upgrade to this one. Off the bat, it is much lighter than the other one (with the battery being much smaller, that helps a lot if you are working overhead often) but I do find that it seems to be a slower driver. The 3.0Ah battery life is also not great – with the older model I could do a hard day of working without needing a recharge, while this only gives a couple of hours. But that is just nitpicking – I would not want to attempt any woodwork projects without this by my side.

I used this Makita to install built in cabinets. It worked like a charm for me and I even used it to drill the 10 mm holes into wall to fasten the side and bottom of the cabinet. It felt to me that the battery would never run out. I did use it for a few hours before the battery went dead. The best cordless drill I ever bought and most used tool for me.
